How DizitalAdda Students Are Landing Freelance Clients While Still Studying (2026 Data)

July 25, 2026 5 min read
Digital Marketing Career & Courses Latest News

Most "freelance income India" posts throw out a number like ₹10,000–₹2,50,000/month with zero explanation of where it came from. We didn't want to do that. So instead of guessing, we asked our own students — 10 of them, currently enrolled in DizitalAdda's Digital Marketing courses — what actually happened when they tried freelancing while studying.

Here's the headline: 8 out of 10 students surveyed are now earning something from freelancing, and among the 8 who reported how they landed their first client, 7 did it within two weeks of starting active outreach. Every single reported client came through direct outreach — referrals, Instagram/Facebook DMs, or LinkedIn messages. Nobody in this survey landed a client by posting and waiting.

Quick Review: The Data at a Glance

  • Sample: 10 DizitalAdda Digital Marketing students, surveyed July 2026 (Delhi/NCR only)
  • Earning something: 8 of 10 (80%)
  • Not earning yet: 2 of 10 (20%)
  • Landed a client within 2 weeks: 7 of 8 who reported a timeframe (87.5%)
  • Top channel: Referrals (4 students), then Instagram/Facebook (2), then LinkedIn (1)
  • Income range among earners: under ₹5,000 to more than ₹20,000/month
  • Biggest caveat: small, self-reported, Delhi/NCR-only sample — read it as a real pattern, not a national average

Methodology

We surveyed 10 students from DizitalAdda's Digital Marketing courses (both the 1-year and 6-month tracks) via a Google Form in July 2026, asking their current freelance income, when they started freelancing relative to starting their course, how many weeks of active outreach it took to land their first paying client, and how they found that client. All 10 respondents are based in Delhi/NCR (Delhi, New Delhi, and Modinagar) — so this is a regional snapshot, not a national one yet. All figures are self-reported.

Consider this Wave 1 of an ongoing survey. We'll keep collecting responses and updating this page as the sample grows.

The Students Who Are Earning

Eight students in this group are currently earning something from freelancing. Here's how each of them got there (two asked us to keep their individual stories out of it — their numbers are folded into the aggregate stats below instead):

  1. Priya, 3rd-year BCom student, Delhi (name changed at her request) 1–3 months into her course, she started messaging potential clients on Instagram and Facebook. First paying client: 2 weeks later. She's now the highest earner in the group, at more than ₹20,000/month.

  2. Deepak, 2nd-year BSc student, New Delhi 1–3 months into his course, he began reaching out on LinkedIn. First paying client: 2 weeks later. Now earning ₹10,000–₹20,000/month.

  3. Aryan Kumar Gupta, 1st-year BCom (Hons) student, New Delhi 1–3 months into his course, he landed his first paying client in just 1 week of trying. (He didn't specify which channel he used.) Now earning ₹5,000–₹10,000/month.

  4. Devanshu Sankhla, 2nd-year BCom student, Delhi Got his first paying client through a personal referral in 1 week. Now earning ₹5,000–₹10,000/month.

  5. Aryan Upadhyay, 2nd-year BBA student, Delhi Now earning around ₹10,000/month — he didn't report how long it took or which channel he used to land his first client.

  6. A 2nd-year BCA student, Delhi Landed a paying client through a referral in just 1 week. Income is flexible month to month, currently landing between ₹4,000 and ₹7,000.

  7. Tanya Das, 1st-year BCA student, Delhi Landed her first paying client through a referral in 2 weeks. Now earning ₹5,000–₹10,000/month.

None of these students waited around for work to come to them. Every one who reported a channel picked one — Instagram, LinkedIn, or a referral — and messaged people until it turned into a paying client.

Two Who Aren't Earning Yet

  • Arick, Digital Marketing (1-year track), Delhi Landed a paying client through Instagram/Facebook outreach in 2 weeks — but that hasn't turned into steady income yet, and he currently reports not earning.
  • Aryan, final-year student, Digital Marketing (6-month track), New Delhi (asked us not to share his individual story) Hasn't landed a paying client yet and reports not earning.

Arick's case is the one worth sitting with: he did everything the earners did — picked a channel, reached out, landed a client in two weeks — but a single client hasn't (yet) become recurring income. Landing a first client and building steady monthly income are two different milestones, and this survey shows they don't always happen on the same timeline.

8 of 10 students in this survey are earning something from freelancing while still studying. That's a genuinely encouraging number for a small, self-reported sample — though the amounts are modest for most of them, and one of the two non-earners (Arick) shows that landing a client doesn't automatically mean the income sticks.

What Made the Difference in Landing a Client

Of the 8 students who reported both a timeframe and outcome for their first client search:

  • 7 out of 8 (87.5%) landed their first client within two weeks of starting active outreach.
  • Referrals were the single most common channel (4 students), followed by Instagram/Facebook (2 students) and LinkedIn (1 student).

Every reported first client — whether the student went on to earn steadily or not — came through direct, active outreach. Nobody in this data got a client by posting content and waiting for inbound interest.

What This Means If You're Starting Out

If you're a student reading this, the odds in this small sample favor you: most students who actively tried outreach landed a paying client, and most of those turned it into some level of ongoing income. What separated the fastest starters wasn't a secret channel — it was picking one (a referral, an Instagram DM, a LinkedIn message) and following through consistently until someone said yes. That's also, practically, what the course is built to prepare you for.

Limitations of This Data

  • Small sample. 10 responses show a real pattern, not a statistically definitive one.
  • Regional skew. All 10 respondents are from Delhi/NCR.
  • Mixed income formats. Some students reported a bracket, others an exact or flexible figure — we've kept them as reported rather than forcing them into uniform buckets.
  • Self-reported, not independently verified.
  • Two respondents' individual stories are held back at their request; their numbers are included in the aggregate figures above but not attributed to them by name.

We'd rather publish an honest, small, real dataset than an invented big number — and we'll keep updating this as more students respond.

FAQ

What's a realistic freelance income for a DizitalAdda student who's just starting out?
Based on this data, 8 of 10 students are earning something, ranging from under ₹5,000 to over ₹20,000/month, with most falling in the ₹5,000–10,000 range.

How did students actually land their first paying client?
Every student in this survey who reported a channel landed their client through direct outreach — a referral, an Instagram/Facebook DM, or a LinkedIn message — not through a freelance marketplace or passive posting.

How long does it take to land a first freelance client?
Among the 8 students who reported a timeframe, 7 did it within one to two weeks of active outreach; one took three to five weeks.

Does landing a client quickly guarantee steady income?
Not always. One student in this survey landed a client through Instagram/Facebook outreach in two weeks but hasn't yet turned it into ongoing income — a reminder that the first client and steady monthly income are two separate milestones.

Is this data representative of all student freelancers in India?
Not fully — it's a small, Delhi/NCR-only sample of 10 DizitalAdda students, self-reported in July 2026. We'll keep growing and updating this dataset.
